Not one to eat Fruit Loops, or anything else for that matter, for breakfast, Idaho fourth grader Billy Potluck usually gets his fill with a mountain of tater tots served with a side of chicken nuggets at his 10:50 A.M. school lunch.
Except on Tuesdays.
Fifty year lunch lady veteran "Mrs. Squiggles" as she is affectionately known, this year started taking Tuesdays off as she enters into semi-retirement.
"We've got plenty of potatoes in this state. The more the merrier, kids!" On Fridays, when she is especially in a good mood, Mrs. S often double fists tots for each elementary school kid when no one is looking.
But on Tuesdays, Billy battles fill-in Mrs. Ruulz, who not only does not dole out anything over the maximum 7 tots per kid, she often severely shortchanges each starving kid in the line.
"Last week she only gave me three!" Billy protested. "I'm going to have to pocket some of Monday's take it this keep up."
At press time, school records recorded 15 absences to date for Billy, all on Tuesdays.
