Instead of analyzing reams of scientific data at his disposal, a local weatherman is under fire today for confessing live on air to his routine practice of "Googling the weather" just minutes before his featured weekend forecast every Friday. David Davidson, a renowned staple of the weekend forecast team at Local Channel 7 News for 20 years, abruptly came clean mid-forecast Friday morning:
"I can't do this anymore. To all those who have loved and supported me over the years, know this. You have supported a conman. I have no idea what the weather will be! Do you know how hard it is to predict? No one could have predicted that flash flooding last Saturday on what I and everyone else in this town said was going to be a perfect beach day. No one!"
Perplexed and looking to offer a lifeline to his colleague, lead anchor Chet Pretson interjected. "David, it's not easy. We appreciate everything you have done for our community for years."
"No, Chet. I'm done!" Davison ripped off his microphone on live air and started to leave the set.
Coanchor Mindy Molly tried to lighten the mood for the viewers. "David, any final suggestions for tomorrow's forcast? Another beach day?" She smirked.
"I have no idea!" David blurted out. "Google it! That's what I do!"
Later that day Channel 7's Sports Lead Tim Bologna caught up with other outlets on his way to the gym. "What can I say? He was corking his bat for years."
